Pastoral Care
“Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did for me.” Matt 25:40
Pastoral Ministry shares responsibility for the daily care of the faithful under the leadership of our pastor. We recognize a direct connection between spirituality and the rest of life. We are concerned with the care of our parishioners in spirit, mind and body. We affirm the act of mercy dictated by Christ to care for the sick, comfort the dying and to be a beacon of encouragement, love and support to the parishioners of Divine Mercy Church.
We offer prayer, guidance and support to those struggling with physical and emotional needs as well as spiritual ones. We minister to those who are in crisis, homebound, hospitalized, dying, in assisted living/nursing home care, grieving or needing support for difficult times in their life. Please see a description of each ministry listed below.
If you or a loved one needs the support of Pastoral Care, please contact Bernadette Tatge at the parish office (507)334-2266, ext. 23.
Assisted Living/Nursing Homes
We regularly visit our area Assisted Living and Nursing Homes and offer Communion Services and Mass to our Parishioners. It is important to us that they continue to feel connected and part of our Divine Mercy community. We also provide Anointing, Confession and Ash Wednesday services during the year. All family and parishioners are welcome to attend these services. The dates and times are posted in the bulletin under Pastoral Care. Please contact Bernadette Tatge at 334-2266, ext. 23 for further information or to partner with us in this ministry.
BeFrienders
BeFrienders are trained lay parishioners who offer support and a listening presence to parishioners from Divine Mercy who are lonely, grieving, dealing with job loss, or struggling with a difficult life situation. The BeFrienders Ministry is based on the belief that God is present in every encounter and we want to offer caring, nonjudgemental and confidential support for those in need. If you would like to have the support of a Befriender or are interested in joining this rewarding ministry, please contact Bernadette Tatge at (507)334-2266, ext. 23 for more information.
Funeral Ministry
We assist families with the planning and pre-planning of funerals here at Divine Mercy. We have trained lay parishioners who meet with each family with compassion and confidentiality. We offer support and guidance throughout the planning of the funeral. Please contact Bernadette Tatge at 334-2266, ext. 23 for assistance or questions you have regarding the funeral of you or your loved one.
Our Partners in Ministry provide Funeral Planning, Wake Vigil Prayers, Funeral Hospitality and Server/Sacristans. We would love to have you partner in this ministry. Please contact Bernadette Tatge for more information.
Homebound/Hospital Ministry
Our Eucharistic Ministers bring the Eucharist to those who are homebound and unable to attend mass due to age, illness, or other circumstances. We also visit members from our parish who are in the hospital or a nursing home facility. If you or your loved one is in need of this ministry, please contact Bernadette Tatge at 334-2266, ext.23. We welcome new partners in this beautiful ministry.
